I woke up this morning to find Dorothy already busy making changes. By lunchtime, we made sure that all the one year olds who had previously been living in the dining room were moved downstairs with the rest of the children. We moved several of the kids from the "baby room" to downstairs as well. Then, after all that was finished we were finally able to move our tiny twin girls and Tamara into the baby room. Now, the twin girls are sleeping in an actual crib rather than a laundry basket!
Now, our dining room suddenly seems enormous without 7 cribs and children in it! Tomorrow, we would like the nannies to start bringing all the children upstairs to play during the day. Once we get some developmentally appropriate toys, we will really be able to organize and spread children throughout the house. Thirty-five children is just far too many to be playing in the same room and doing the same activity all at once. Because of all the shifting around, everything was a little bit thrown off today. I busied myself around the house by helping take care of the kids during all the transitioning.
An American physical therapist came to the house for a few hours today and gave us tips for Youvendjii, Frantzo, and a couple of our other delayed children. It was greatly appreciated!
Please pray for direction for me as to my future role here at FHLIR and in Haiti.
